| Women's rights on an international scale |
Each issue of Patchwork will focus on a particular theme. This issue’s theme concerns women’s rights around the world. Although women comprise half of the population, they are a marginalized group susceptible to discrimination, exploitation and violence in today’s world.
Women account for 70% of the 1.3 billion people in the world living in poverty, a labour federation has said in a report issued on International Women’s Day.
This issue is dedicated to those women who must overcome insurmountable odds to get through day to day life. Patchwork seeks to empower those whose voices are ignored by our society.
